ALEXANDER MACKENZIE (1923-2002)
Levant Zawn 1960
oil on board
61 x 76 cm
During the 1950s and early 1960s Mackenzie used passages of texture in rhythmical compositions of lines, bars and circular forms. The forms created suggest the sensation of moving through and over landscape. Levant Zawn is a cliff formation near the old mines north of St. Just, frequently painted by Mackenzie and other Cornish artists including John Tunnard.
